Advancing the Decade for Early Childhood Care and Education

Continuing with the strategies to make visible and promote OMEP’s flagship initiative “Decade for Early Childhood”, this week OMEP World President Mercedes Mayol Lassalle attended the 42nd. UNESCO General Conference in Paris, where she addressed the plenary session and requested UNESCO’s support to partner with a dedicated ECCE strategy, and announced that work had begun on the presentation of the Decade for Early Childhood to the United Nations.

Thus, just as the idea was “planted” in the Americas at the 97th Ordinary Meeting of the Directing Council of IIN-OAS Inter-American Children’s Institute  that was held in Kingston, Jamaica, work was now underway with UNESCO and in Europe to disseminate the proposal and seek more partners.
