On July 26, 27 and 28, OMEP was participating in the Global Launch of the GEM Report 2023 on Education and Technology, organized by UNESCO, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay (MEC) and the Ceibal Foundation.
The event brought together Ministers of Education and ICT officials, representatives of international organizations UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank and regional organizations (OEI, OAS, IDB), teachers and representatives of civil society and the private sector.
With the President of OMEP Uruguay, Shirley Ameigenda and other colleagues from the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) and CLADE we participated in the sessions with experts and policy makers in the global launch of the Report.

OMEP also organized a hybrid parallel session in Spanish “Education, Education and Technology in Early Childhood: Urgent Discussions” in collaboration with the Global Campaign for Education, the Inter-American Children’s Institute of the Organization of American States, and the GEM Report team. In this session, the following participated: Alfonso Gutiérrez from the Inter-American Institute for Children and Adolescents – IIN / OAS, Vernor Muñoz from the World Campaign for Education – GCE, Elisa Cristi, Facilitator in digital technologies and education and member of OMEP Uruguay, Cristina Rodrígues, Deputy Director of Education and General Coordinator of Educational Technology for the Secretary of Education of the Municipality of Vicente López, Argentina, Gabriela Ceballos, Master student in Early Childhood Education at the University of Buenos Aires, Martin Torres, PhD student at the University of Córdoba, Mercedes Mayol Lassalle, OMEP World President and Manos Antoninis, coordinator of the GEM Report. The presentation and coordination of the panel was in charge of Shirley Ameigenda and the synthesis and closing of the meeting was in charge of Javier Alliaume, Vice President of the Uruguayan National Committee of OMEP.
