Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
States Parties shall take all appropriate legislative, administrative, social and educational measures to protect the child from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse, while in the care of parent(s), legal guardian(s) or any other person who has the care of the child
The pandemic and quarantine situation has deepened the incidence of cases of violence and abuse of girls, boys and adolescents both in virtual environments and due to the different tensions that family environments go through.
It is imminent to promote practices of good treatment and quality care, as well as to demand that the State comply with guarantees of the rights of children and adolescents and the guarantee of reparation of the damage.
OMEP URUGUAY adheres to and accompanies national and international efforts to monitor, eradicate and prevent all forms of violence against children and adolescents.
