Education across the world is at a crossroads. In many countries, a silent but worsening learning crisis is having disastrous effects on people, the planet, prosperity, and peace. In all countries, recent and emerging social, cultural, political, and technological shifts are forcing us to rethink and reimagine the purpose, content, and delivery of education.
As a milestone towards the Summit that the UN Secretary-General will convene on 19 September 2022 at UN Headquarters in New York, UNESCO has organized the Ministerial level Transforming Education Pre-Summit, which will be held from 28 to 30 June 2022 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The Pre-Summit will include a Global Engagement Day on 28 June and a two-day Ministerial Segment from 29-30 June.
The World President Mercedes Mayol Lassalle will participate on behalf of OMEP.
One of the main outcomes of the Pre-Summit will be a shared understanding of the key elements of transforming education to inform the Secretary-General’s Call to Action in September.
