The publication brings together the projects developed within the framework of the “UNESCO Participation Programme”. In 2022, the World Presidency and the African Regional Vice Presidency of OMEP and the national committees of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, presented a project on Education for Sustainable Development in Early Childhood in Africa for the “Program of UNESCO Participation”. The project won the competition and UNESCO provided financial support to develop it between August 2022 and December 2023.

The OMEP Strategic Plan that defines ESD in ECCE, provided the general framework, and the Regional Vice Presidency for Africa, which coordinated the project, together with each national committee developed their own action plan for their country, taking into account their difficulties and needs, as well as their experience with Education for Sustainable Development. In this way, five different projects were designed and implemented that consider the specific needs of each national territory and also demonstrate the special characteristics of each national committee.
