Launch of the new free online course: “Sustainability from the Start”

OMEP Sustainability from the Start

‘Sustainability from the start’ is a cutting-edge program co-funded by the EU and created specifically for early childhood educators, in a collaboration between Kristianstad University, OMEP and edChild.

It is a free course to strengthen knowledge about sustainability and Sustainable Development, and provide the possibility of teaching it with young children. The course is available through the free ECE Academy app in multiple languages ​​and serves diverse audiences and global curricula.

After completing the course, you will receive a certificate and your Children diplomas.

Five OMEP National Committees in Europe are active in an Erasmus+ funded project. Sustainability from the Start – ESD for ECE. The project is led by Kristianstad University in Sweden, and also includes edChild, an EdTech company which received the OMEP ESD Award 2021, and five European OMEP committees; France, Ireland, Croatia, Sweden and the Czech Republic. The project runs between January 2022 and June 2024.
The purpose of the project is to develop and implement an online education: Sustainability from the Start, and to support ESD content in everyday life in Early Childhood Education settings, as well as in preschool teacher education at universities. The project combines digital learning and learning for sustainability with special orientation and adaptation for the preschool.
