Tashkent +1: Celebrating Progress and Reaffirming Commitments to ECCE

UNESCO organized the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) from 14 to 16
November 2022 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. As the first international education event organized after the
Transforming Education Summit, the conference created a platform to discuss progress towards our
collective commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 4.2: to ensure that all
girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so
that they are ready for primary education by 2030

In this light, UNESCO is organizing a celebration of the first year of Tashkent Declaration to provide
updates on follow-up actions since the conference and agree on a roadmap to continued collaboration.
As a driver of international cooperation, UNESCO is leveraging the Global Partnership Strategy for early
childhood (GPS), developed in November 2021 with over 40 partners to mobilize coordinated and
collaborative support to Member States to strengthen their ECCE systems.

The celebration will take place online on Zoom in English, French, Spanish, and Russian.
